In the race of life, only people with clear purpose for living become celebrities. Men of exploits are those that have genuine reasons for every action or movement they take or make. If you must get the best out of life, you must have a reason for living. Having targets is a proof that your success is around the corner.
A successful bank marketer must strive to beat his bank’s target. The eyes of an Olympic athlete focus only on the medals he desires to clinch. The well-organized and expensive political campaigns of a governorship aspirant are geared towards becoming the first citizen of the state. Even the ant has a mission. It toils all-day to ensure it gathers and store food for the rainy days.
You must have reasons for each of your events in life to become participant. Others with no target are just spectators. Life spectators spend most of their lifetimes telling stories of the exploits of life participants.
Therefore, in the race of life we have participants and spectators. We also have story makers and storytellers.
Until you have reasons for your actions in life, you are not a candidate of success. Life is cheap for those that know why they are doing what they are doing. Just ask yourself why I’m I studying this course? Why I’m I going to Lagos? Back your actions with profitable reasons. If you talk because others are talking, you might not make sense because you don’t have reasons for your action. If you move because others are moving, then you will never arrive at your own destination.
Abraham Lincoln became a celebrity not because he was the sixteenth president of America. His adoption of slave liberation policy made him famous. Nelson Mandela registered his name in world’s history when he voluntarily handed power over to Thebo Mbeke instead of following the footsteps of African leaders who always want to become life presidents. Even our own Murtala Mohammed, although a military leader, is still celebrated till date because of his policy of indigenization and commercialization. It is said that when he was assassinated, Nigerians mourned him deeply instead of celebrating his death.
It is your capacity to distinguish yourself in the race of life that qualifies you for exploit and impact. Your fame will come only when you decide to be different. If you stand out from the crowd, you are already a celebrity. Don’t just move on the pathway of time without making a mark.
Convincing, you can only distinguish yourself if you are pursuing a particular goal within a specific time frame. Purpose breeds, focus, strength, patience, humility and continuity.
