If you’re shopping around the net, you’ll find that all new Aeron chairs are pretty much priced exactly the same. This is because Herman Miller sets prices for their chairs and all authorized sellers have to abide by them.
This is a good way to tell which chairs are authentic vs which are used or fake. If you see a ‘new’ Aeron chair listed online for a price substantially less than what other companies are charging, most likely it is a used or fake chair. If you unknowingly buy a used/fake chair, just know that you will not qualify for the 12-year Herman Miller warranty, in case the chair breaks down.
There is a way to save some money though. Herman Miller’s price rule only affects ‘advertised pricing’, meaning that no authorized seller can advertise the price for less than retail price. BUT, they can technically sell the chair for any price they want.
If you call a seller and ask for a deal, most companies will knock down at least $50 off the retail price. If you call around and get a better deal, you can ask another seller to meet or beat that price (most authorized sellers will because they want your business).
You will also qualify for a better deal if you’re buying multiple chairs. Call a couple of the companies and ask them to beat the other company’s prices. This is a great little tip you can use any time of the year because these companies want your business.
